Any information on my ancester Thomas Ashby, b. 1680 Liestershire England, or his first mife Elizebeth Le Jau would be must helpfull.
Images , stories, Marriage or death records. Anything really.
Thomas shows up in upper Virginia around 1706.
No one in my family even knew about this South Carolina history.
We are about to place a S.A.R. Revolution war plaque on his son (Stephen Ashby) grave
site and I am searching this history to prepare presentation and fill in my Family about South Carolina connection.

Hello I don't know if this helps but I came across this today. http://books.google.com/books?id=gkMTAAAAYAAJ&printsec=frontcover&dq=south+carolina+historical+and+genealogical+magazine&source=bl&ots=MXTz8cCDYu&sig=jCFV6snzO00AcjRvasO4mEXNPAE&hl=en&ei=72TLS6XhDoXs9QTOz8DMBA&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=4&ved=0CBMQ6AEwAw#v=onepage&q&f=false
if you download it it's a free PDF and you can find thomas on page 7 (196). Would you mind telling me how you know Thomas had a son named Stephen? I've been trying to find my connection to these Ashby's. I'm descended from the Ashby's that settled in Union County SC circa 1800 and I'm pretty sure they all came from Charleston. It would help a lot if you could tell me where you found that.
