Seeking info on the above, all spellings of which I have found for my ancestors.
My ggrandfather, WILLIAM LAWRENCE WEELDON, black, was born in 1829 SC; perhaps in Sumpter, where there was a SARAH WHILDEN/WHEELDON who was a slaveholder.
As w/most of the info found, there is much speculation, and I would be most grateful to hear from any descendants who just might recognize the name and lend a hand.

In the Cemetery Survey book Of Lee Co.S.C. there is a Whilden - McCutchen Family Cemetery a Caucasian cemetery, In this cemetery is in the Ashwood Community, of Lee Co.
Sarah Wilden- DOB ? DOD Oct,16,1863
Consort of William Whilden
In early life she connected herself with
the Presyterian Church.William Whilden
DOB, Apr.25,1768
