I live in Columbia, SC and am also trying to find similar information. I am related in the following way: Nelson Adams, Kinchen Adams(9/19/1836-9/28/1879), John Kinchen (Pony) Adams(b 7/1862), John Franklin Adams (my grandfather)(3/11/1892-11/11/1968). I was not aware that Ancil and Sarah Jane had a son by the name of Kinchen. I thought his children were Martha, Nancy, Mary, and Willis. For what it is worth, I have a will of Jacob Yelventon in which he is willing to his children various livestock which was in the care of Jacob Barfoot. It is thought by several people that Pherity Barfoot was a Cherokee Indian.

I am trying to find info on my GGG Grandfather Asa Adams (b.1777 NC) prior to 1810 and his parents. I found him on the 1810 Marion Co. Census. His wife (m. 1802) is Pherity Barfoot. On the 1800 Marion Co. Census I found a Joseph Adams who had 2 males age 16-25 and one of them could be Asa. Joseph could have been his Father but I have no way to know this. I am from Asa's son Nelson and Martha Mathis Adams line, and then their son Ancil and Sarah Jane Adams, and their son (my Grandfather) Kinchen M. (John Kinch)and Alyce Bell Bills Adams. Nelson moved to Dickson Co. Tn. about 1852. Pherity could be the daughter of John Barfoot who is listed on the 1800 Marion Co. Census who is living near Joseph, Abner, Ezekiel and Richard Adams. I see where they lived in an area called Little Pee Dee. When Ezekiel died in 1805 I found Asa buying some items from his estate sell. Could have been his Uncle. Any help could help me knock down this brickwall. Thanks, Tom Adams, Seven Points, Tx.
