Josiah Brabham Gillam was one of my husband's great great grandfathers. His son was James Edward Gillam (called papoo by my husband). We don't know if he (James) had any siblings. James had quite a few children, Myrtle Blanche Gillam was one of James daughters and she married Lide Benjamin Stoudenmire from Orangeburg, SC. They had two sons and Lide deserted them when the boys were very young (elementary school). Hinton Arthur Stoudemire (the family took the n out of the last name) was the oldest and was the father on my husband -Norman Arthur Stoudemire. Hinton's younger brother Joe was killed in the war. Norman and I live in Beech Island, SC. If we can help answer any questions you can e-mail us at stoudemb@bellsouth.net

William Pierce Thornton 1849-1936) was my great grandfather and lived in the Cross Anchor section of Spartanburg County and kept a journal for many years (excerpts published in Woodruff, SC newspaper several years ago). I would love to know if that journal still exhists and where it might be located. I would also like to know if there is a Thornton family bible or other "private" records of the early Thorntons in Spartanburg County. I know that Wm. P. Thornton's father was named Samuel and was born in South Carolina in 1800 but have been unable to find who his parents were (his mother is noted to be from Ireland on 1880 Federal Census) and father from South Carolina. Is anyone aware of any private records that might contain information about Samuel Thornton (1800-1895) or his parents, or are there any knowledgeable relatives or historians in the area? Thank you for any assistance.
I was not aware that Ancil and Sarah Jane had a son by the name of Kinchen. I thought his children were Martha, Nancy, Mary, and Willis. For what it is worth, I have a will of Jacob Yelventon in which he is willing to his children various livestock which was in the care of Jacob Barfoot.

I have been researching the Gary family for quite a while now. I too am interested in more information on Nathaniel Gary who is my ggg grandfather. I would love to see some of your photos. The only old photo I have is of my great grandfather Thomas Gary. I have a family tree on Ancestry.com if you are interested. I would love to hear from you and share information. Gale Gary Hooper

I can trace my branch from California, thru Alabama, to ggg-grandfather (Robert Thomas Bowlan) born in Anderson, CS, in 1782. Can anyone identify his parents? His wife was Mary Nelson, born in Abbieville, SC, in 1785 to William Nelson and Caroline Gains Bowlan.
